Swim Sets
These swim sets are targeted at increasing speed, endurance and power. The 1st set is hard enough but if you want to try the others cut down the amount of reps to suit you. Don't expect to be able to complete a full 3K set on your 1st go. I love swimming and have been doing it for years and I find these sets difficult.
Doggy Paddle
The Youtube link below is one way to do this - I keep my head out of the water to make this really hard. The way they're showing it in the video is a little soft.

Fingernail Touch (FNT)
As you front crawl don't let your hand clear the water during the "recovery" phase. Instead let your fingernails skip along the surface of the water before completing your stroke.
Bilateral Breathing
Breathing after every 3rd or even 5th stroke during front crawl. This teaches you to breath on either side as you could catch a wave in the face and miss a breath. If you are comfortable breathing on both sides you can switch to the other side and it won't affect your pace.
