Racing
Race days are great. The events are usually well organised and well attended. The other competitors are friendly and will cheer on everyone else as will the inevitable crowd of supporters that will arrive. Once you've done one event you'll want to do more even if the weather isn't great.
You're not going to win the event (unless you've been training like a demon and even that's not a guarantee) so don't put any unnecessary pressure on yourself. Just relax and enjoy the taking part, trust in your training and you'll probably surprise yourself.
You're doing this for fun - you aren't a Pro and your next pay day does not depend on you being in the top ten. The world will not end if you don't get a PB and no one will think any less of you for finishing last - at least you finished - think of the poor souls who don't. ANYTHING can happen on the day BUT the more you just enjoy the event the less will go wrong ... that's probably not true but positivity will get you far.
